Douglas completed his law degree in 2018 and was admitted to the profession in 2019 and joined Becker Watt Lawyers in May 2021.
Before joining Becker Watt Lawyers, Douglas was the Associate to the Honourable Justice Morrison in the Queensland Court of Appeal. He has also worked in a commercial law firm and the finance team of a global law firm. Douglas has also worked in the Supreme and the District Court Registry as an Administration Officer in both criminal and civil appeals.
Prior to commencing a law degree, Douglas worked as a Boilermaker for eleven years in various settings including: at sea on bulk carriers, steel fabrication workshops and residential, commercial and industrial construction projects. Douglas also spent many years as a FIFO on large scale construction projects in the mining industry in Western Australia.
Douglas Initially became interested in studying law after seeing the intersection of law in the day to day operation of large construction projects. Due to this experience, Douglas has a practical understanding of the construction industry, which enables him to quickly understand building and construction matters and disputes as well as build a rapport with clients in the construction industry.
